Clearout vs MillionVerifier: Pricing, Accuracy & Catch-All Handling

Clearout vs MillionVerifier: Pricing, Accuracy & Catch-All Handling

TL;DR

  • Clearout gives more detailed verification results, including Valid, Invalid, Catch-All, Disposable, Gibberish, Free, and Role-Based.
  • MillionVerifier uses broader result groups, mainly Good, Risky, and Bad, which keep the output simpler.
  • Clearout uses Deep Verify to resolve catch-all addresses into valid and invalid, while MillionVerifier has a separate Catch-All Email Verifier.
  • Clearout offers subscription and pay-as-you-go options, while MillionVerifier provides one-time credit packages and recurring list cleaning. Pricing and workflows differ.

Email verification results can differ between tools, particularly when addresses fall into catch-all or uncertain categories. A verifier’s classification system and approach to these results can affect how useful the final list is.

The difference becomes clearer when you look at how each tool classifies uncertain results. Clearout and MillionVerifier handle email verification results differently. Clearout provides separate classifications such as Valid, Invalid, Catch-All, Disposable, Gibberish, and Role-Based, while MillionVerifier groups results into Good, Risky, and Bad.

For this Clearout vs MillionVerifier comparison, I tested both tools using the same list of 40+ email addresses. The comparison covers accuracy, catch-all handling, features, pricing, and integrations.

Clearout vs MillionVerifier: Which Email Verifier is better?

The difference becomes clearer when both tools process the same list.

Clearout

G2 review: 4.6/5

Clearout home page

Clearout uses more than 20 checks to verify email addresses, with 99.73% accuracy. It bulk verifies in real time via API with detailed results like gibberish, duplicate, free, catch-all, and role-based emails. With Deep Verify, Clearout takes a closer look at catch-all emails and can confirm some as Valid or Invalid.

Pros

  • Detailed verification categories
  • Deep Verify for catch-all addresses
  • Bulk and real-time verification
  • CRM and API integrations
  • Monthly, annual, and pay-as-you-go plans
  • 100 free credits to test the platform

Cons

  • Some result categories may need additional review to determine the appropriate next step.
  • Larger email lists may take longer to process, depending on list size and verification requirements.

Test results I got

Clearout showing Email Verifier test results

  • 14 Valid: 29%
  • 14 Invalid: 29%
  • 20 Catch-All: 41%
  • 0 Unknown
  • 1 Duplicate: 2%
  • 6 Gibberish Accounts: 12%
  • 9 Free Accounts: 18%
  • 1 Role Account: 2%
  • 0 Disposable Accounts

My review

I tested Clearout with the same list used for this comparison, and I found the results easy to review after the verification was completed.

What struck me was how much detail you can get in one report. Instead of just marking the entire list as valid or invalid, I could see duplicate, gibberish, free and role-based addresses right along with the main verification results. The results were accurate, as I could see my bounce rate fell below 3% after sending emails to valid addresses that Clearout has identified. For larger lists, the bulk upload option also made the process more practical.

User perspective: “It features integration with HubSpot for real-time form validation and email verification to assist with contact cleanup.”

MillionVerifier

G2 review: 4.2/5

MillionVerifier home page

MillionVerifier focuses on high-volume email verification with a simpler result structure. It checks syntax, domains, SMTP responses, catch-all, disposable, free, and role-based addresses, with results grouped as Good, Risky, or Bad. Its smart catch-all verification handles addresses that standard checks cannot confirm. Credit-based pricing also makes it relevant for large lists.

Pros

  • Lower cost per verification at higher volumes
  • Bulk email verification
  • Real-time API
  • Catch-all verification

Cons

  • Broader result categories provide less detail when reviewing addresses for removal.
  • Repeated API verification of the same email uses credits each time.
  • Duplicate removal does not apply across separate uploads.
  • Low accuracy in results

Test results I got

MillionVerifier showing Email Verification test results

  • 2 Good (4%)
  • 32 Risky (67%)
  • 14 Bad (29%)

The 14 Bad results matched Clearout's 14 Invalid results numerically. The larger difference was in the uncertain results. MillionVerifier placed 32 addresses under Risky, while Clearout separately identified 20 Catch-All addresses.

My review

I tested MillionVerifier with the same list used for this comparison, and I found the results straightforward to review after the verification was complete.

What stood out was that 32 of the 48 addresses were grouped under Risky. Compared with Clearout’s separate categories, this gave me less detail about the addresses and made it harder to identify specific ones for removal.

For a quick overview of a large list, the simpler result structure was easy to scan, but I found the lack of detailed categories less practical for list cleaning.

User perspective: “I have used it for verifying the emails before sending for promotional email using Amazon SES because I already have a 5% bounce rate limitation, so I am requiring the email verifier so I have used it for verify my emails as well as knowing as bounce emails as well in bulk."

Clearout vs. MillionVerifier features

Clearout and MillionVerifier both provide bulk and real-time email verification, along with catch-all detection, API access, and integrations. Their features also include duplicate handling, automated list cleaning, detailed verification checks, and tools for managing risky or invalid email addresses. Let's get into the details right away.

1. Result categories

Clearout gives separate results for Valid, Invalid, Catch-All, Disposable, Gibberish, Free, and Role-Based emails. I could see the type of address directly instead of putting several types into one group.

MillionVerifier mainly uses Good, Risky, and Bad. In my test, 32 of the 48 addresses were marked "Risky," so I had to look further into that group to decide which addresses needed attention.

2. Catch-all verification

Both tools detect catch-all domains, but they handle the next step differently. Clearout uses Deep Verify for some catch-all results, while MillionVerifier has a separate Catch-All Email Verifier.

This is one of the areas I would look at closely when comparing catch-all resolution accuracy. The extra check matters because a catch-all result does not tell you whether the specific mailbox exists.

3. Recurring list cleaning

MillionVerifier has EverClean for recurring list verification. This can be useful if you regularly need to clean an existing email database.

Clearout supports ongoing verification through its API and connected workflows, which is more useful when verification is part of a larger process.

4. Verification detail

The result breakdown was the biggest difference I noticed in my test. Clearout gave me separate categories for addresses such as Catch-All, Gibberish, Free, and Role-Based, while MillionVerifier put a much larger share into Risky.

Clearout vs. MillionVerifier pricing

Clearout gives its users benefits of monthly and annual subscriptions as well as one-time Pay-As-You-Go purchases. Its purchased subscription credits do not expire.

MillionVerifier's current pricing uses one-time credit packages. There are no monthly or annual credit plans, and purchased credits don't expire.

Here's the comparison as per the verification volume and their respective pricing:

Verification volumeClearout (one-time credits)MillionVerifier (one-time credits)
10,000$65 onwards$39
100,000$400 onwards$149
500,000$1,000 onwards$299

For a detailed breakdown of Clearout’s plans, see our pricing guide.

Which has better Email Verification accuracy: Clearout or MillionVerifier?

Clearout offers 99.73% verification accuracy, while MillionVerifier offers 99%+ accuracy. The comparison becomes more useful when looking at how both tools handle results that are harder to confirm, such as catch-all domains, temporary SMTP responses, and addresses that need further review.

1. False positives

A false positive happens when an email is marked deliverable even though it cannot receive email. Both Clearout and MillionVerifier use SMTP checks along with other verification steps, so neither relies on syntax alone.

For both tools, the challenge is what happens when the recipient server accepts or responds to a verification request without clearly confirming the mailbox. In these cases, the final result depends on the additional signals each verifier uses to assess whether the address is actually deliverable.

2. False negative

Clearout and MillionVerifier can both encounter false negatives when the receiving server blocks verification requests, times out, or gives an unclear response. This can make a valid address look invalid even when the mailbox is active.

Both tools use more than a single server response to make a verification decision. How they handle these unclear responses can affect the final result, which is why the same address may not always receive the same result in both tools.

3. General addresses

Catch-all domains accept messages for addresses that the server does not individually confirm. This makes catch-all domain verification different from checking a normal mailbox, since an SMTP response alone cannot confirm that the specific address exists.

Clearout detects these domains and uses Deep Verify for additional checks. Some results can be resolved to Valid or Invalid when there is enough evidence. MillionVerifier catch-all detection also identifies these domains and provides a separate catch-all Email Verifier.

4. One-time addresses

Disposable addresses are generally intended for temporary use, but they can be active upon checking. This differentiates them from a regular business or personal mailbox, even if the verification check is passed.

Both Clearout and MillionVerifier mark disposable addresses, so they’re easy to separate from the normal valid results.

5. Role-based addresses

Both platforms recognize role-based addresses. These results do not have to be treated the same as individual mailboxes.

6. Spam traps

Clearout performs spam-trap detection as part of its verification checks, giving you another signal when you’re evaluating an email address.

7. Results unknown

Some addresses cannot be confirmed because the recipient server does not provide enough information. Instead of treating every unclear response as Invalid, a verifier can keep these addresses separate for further review.

Clearout uses a separate Unknown result, while MillionVerifier places uncertain addresses under Risky. In my test, this broader classification meant I had to review the Risky group to identify addresses that needed attention. This is one area where Clearout features give more details than the standard MillionVerifier result structure.

8. SMTP temporary responses

Verification requests can be blocked temporarily or result in ambiguous responses. Clearout attempts to re-run these difficult responses through additional checks for a more conclusive result, whereas MillionVerifier relies on the destination server's response, possibly leading to varying outcomes between the tools.

Which is the best Catch-all Email Verifier?

Catch-all domains can receive mail even if the specific mailbox does not exist, making them hard to classify with a standard SMTP check. Hence, if you want catch-all resolution, Clearout has the better solution.

Clearout’s Deep Verify runs a multi-layer SMTP analysis, including response timing, server banners, and how specific the responses are. It checks how the server responds during the connection process to see if the address is real, without actually sending an email or waiting for a bounce.

MillionVerifier also offers automated catch-all verification through its Catch-All Email Verifier. It can be useful for bulk list cleaning, but Clearout provides more detailed handling of catch-all results.

Which Email Verifier fits different use cases?

  • High catch-all volume: Deep Verify is designed to further verify catch-all addresses, making Clearout a better fit when catch-all emails make up a large portion of the list.
  • Cost-effective verification: MillionVerifier is a great choice for teams that require more affordable bulk verification.
  • CRM-based Workflows: Clearout is built for workflows that need API-based verification and granular verification data for contacts.
  • High-volume campaigns: Clearout is designed for bulk verification, supporting bulk email lists, API-based verification, and integrated workflows. MillionVerifier also supports bulk verification through its API, including EverClean for recurring list cleaning.
  • Risk-sensitive outreach: Clearout is the right choice when you need granular results and more information before you send. Its 99.73% verification accuracy also helps marketing teams keep cleaner lists for email campaigns.

Final verdict

Clearout and MillionVerifier are both capable email verification platforms, but they suit different priorities. Clearout stands out if you want to get a detailed result category during bulk verification and additional catch-all verification through Deep Verify. MillionVerifier is more focused on cost-efficient verification, with recurring list cleaning and a simpler result structure.

For email marketing campaigns, checking the list can help teams reduce hard bounce rates and avoid getting their domains flagged, which can be done with Clearout Email Verifier. It identifies Invalid, Catch-All, Disposable, Role-Based, and other results that need attention before a campaign goes out.
